Blackpool first started getting tourists in the eighteenth century who had visited to enjoy the new craze of sea bathing. With the advent of the railway, from 1846, Blackpool saw more tourists arriving to”take the cure” as sea bathing was called at that time. Nowadays visitors can travel to Blackpool by automobile, plane or train arriving there much faster than the Victorian workers who could take up to 2 days from as close by as Manchester.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach
The busiest attraction in the town, in Lancashire on the north west coast of England, which entices around 7 million visitors per annum, is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach is an enormously sized funfair with fear inducing big rides, for example Valhalla, the Pepsi Max Big One, Grand National, Ice Blast, Wild Mouse and Zipper Dipper, and including many more food booths, sideshows, thrill rides, entertainments, children’s rides, games and sidestalls. The newest big ride is Infusion, the world’s first to have a suspended looping coaster entirely over water.
Please note: If you are planning to visit the Pleasure Beach as a group of people you can make savings by buying an unlimited ride ticket especially if you will be staying until you have been on nearly every ride because the cost of each ride soon amounts to a lot.
How To Get To Blackpool And B&B
Blackpool is, as said earlier, very easy to get to these days as it is possible to get to the resort by plane, railway or car. If you are arriving by train you will, most probably, be using the main station in Blackpool, Blackpool North found on Talbot Road. Not too far away, a little further down Talbot Road is situated the main bus station. The other rail station, Blackpool South, is at Waterloo Road, which is better if you want the Pleasure Beach. Blackpool International Airport is located approximately two miles south of the centre of town and was previously known as, Blackpool Squires Gate Airport, one of the oldest British airports.
Bed and breakfast accommodation in Blackpool is frequently available at reasonable rates. Rooms are much cheaper out of season but a little more pricey on Saturday and Sunday. Hotels in Blackpool are at their most expensive while the Illuminations are on, which is really the town#s peak season.
A useful tip: Some guest houses and hotels can be noisy and busy especially those situated close to Central Pier and North Pier. If you require somewhere quieter take a look beyond the North Pier.
